Job Description: Anesthesia Veterinary Technician
The Anesthesia Veterinary Technician is a vital member of our veterinary medicine team, responsible for providing high-quality anesthesia care to animals undergoing various veterinary procedures. As an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician, you will work closely with veterinarians, veterinary nurses, and other veterinary technicians to ensure the safe administration and monitoring of anesthesia during surgeries and other medical interventions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer anesthesia to animals undergoing surgical procedures, ensuring the appropriate dosage and type of anesthesia is administered based on the animal's condition and the procedure being performed.
- Monitor animals' vital signs, including heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, temperature, and respiratory rate, during anesthesia to ensure their stability and well-being throughout the procedure.
- Recognize and respond promptly to any anesthesia-related emergencies or complications, ensuring appropriate actions are taken to stabilize the animal and notify the veterinarian.
- Prepare and maintain anesthesia equipment, ensuring it is clean, calibrated, and functioning properly before each use.
- Assist with the induction and recovery of animals from anesthesia, ensuring a smooth transition and minimal post-operative complications.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all anesthesia-related activities, including medications administered, vital signs, and any adverse events or complications.
- Collaborate with the veterinary medicine team to develop and implement anesthesia protocols, ensuring the highest standard of anesthesia care is provided to all animals.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements and best practices in veterinary anesthesia, attending relevant continuing education programs and workshops.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Associate's degree or higher in Veterinary Technology or a related field.
- Certification or licensure as a Veterinary Technician.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working as an Anesthesia Veterinary Technician in a veterinary clinic or hospital setting.
- In-depth knowledge of anesthesia protocols, medications, equipment, and monitoring techniques specific to veterinary medicine.
- Strong understanding of animal physiology, pharmacology, and anesthesia-related complications.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with veterinary professionals and pet owners.
- Proficiency in using anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with the capacity to make quick and accurate decisions in emergency situations.

- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
